Upcoming CopyWrite 1.6 Release
2007/10/22 - The newest and best version of CopyWrite 1.6 is on it's way! In the next two weeks we will be wrapping up development of version 1.6 of CopyWrite CMS and will be releasing it to the public the first week of November, 2007. If you are currently on version 1.51b, we will be contacting you soon with an upgrade schedule.
Below is a full listing of new features and bug fixes:
Public Calendar:
- Calendar Events are now displayed as "blocks" with various color options
- Recurring Events is now implemented. Options: Single Event,
Monday through Friday, Monday & Wednesday & Friday, Tuesday
& Thursday, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly
- Event Date/Time options has been completely rewritten.
- More information Page: You are now able to select a page you
created in CopyWrite to be the "more information" page for a specific
event.
- New Icons to denote recurring events, single events, etc.
- Modified the user interface of the daily, weekly, and monthly
views to make it easier to identify what date and time you're working
on.
- Enhanced feedback on AJAX calls to denote server activity.
- Isolated and fixed several bugs that were generating random characters on events.
Image Management:
- An image manager has been added to the "Templates" tab that will allow uploading and management of images.
User Management:
- You now have the ability to either specify a password, or generate a password for a new or existing user.
- After a user has been created or modified, an information panel will display that user's login credentials.
- Enhanced the User Interface to cut down on the number of
fields the user is presented. "Optional" fields are now hidden by
default.
Article Management:
- NEW WYSIWYG Editor - This will provide more flexibility in generating page layouts and custom HTML.
- Enhanced validation checking on article submission to help prevent lost work due to missing or invalid field values.
WYSIWYG Content Manager:
- We decided to scrap the WYSIWYG Content Manager as it tended to confuse people. The new editor is more compatible with current browsers and includes a LOT of new features such as:
- Styles - this pulls the styles from your current stylesheet. You can view how it will look in your website.
- File Manager - Enhanced file manager allows easier file uploads
- Image Editor - Crop and Resize your images on the server.
- Insert Date/Time Buttons
- Preview Button
- Insert Flash, MP3's, or Videos with ease
- Inline Editor Resizer - change the size of the editor window to whatever size you need it.
Configuration:
- Added an option to show or hide the "Home" option in the auto-generated navigation menu.
- Added an option to show or hide the "Public Calendar" option in the auto-generated navigation menu.
- Fixed a bug that was preventing the Google Search key from being editable.
Other Enhancements:
- CopyWrite 1.60 is now compatible with Internet Explorer 7.
Other enhancements have also increased reliability and user interface
design for Firefox for Mac.
- Copywrite 1.60 has been upgraded to offer better (but not perfect) support for Safari.
- Menu - The new menu system for the frontend of CopyWrite 1.6 is generated as a file and will make large sites load much quicker.
- All form fields have received a facelift.
- The breadcrumbs script has been repaired and is working properly.
- The breadcrumbs function now allows you to specify a character to use for the seperator.
- New function to display the "ICAL" button anywhere in a template.
- New stream-lined process for installing and upgrading CopyWrite
- Repair sitemap.xml generation
- "External Link" has been changed to "Link" and options have been made available to open in a new or existing window.
- Many bug fixes and enhancements to the UI.
